A series of images from the beautiful Japanese film “Garo: Soukoku no Maryu“ from 2013. This movie is amazingly fun and includes a visit to a world where every object ever thought of by man is a living being, an evil Queen capturing everything beautiful so she can devour it, a noble demon hunting Knight from our world with magical golden wolf armor, a battle against Nothingness itself and a final climatic confrontation with a steam-powered dragon. There is nothing to NOT like about this film.
THIS IS AN ACTUAL FILM???????????

Classic Edgy Smoky Eye Look with VDL
—
Part 2 of my VDL collaboration is centered around a very quick smoky eye using just a pencil, a shadow duo and mascara. The whole trick is in choosing the products with the right texture and playing with light for a contoured lid that glistens with a pop of silver every time you blink.
The key product here is Eye Bomb Mega Smoky Pencil, which is pigmented and smudgy enough for that sexy grungy look. On lazy days, you can actually just stop at step 2 and then finish with mascara. If you want to switch it up, try the same look using different eye shadow duos!
The skin is kept quite luminous and the cheeks and lips are a soft girly peachy-pink.
Products:
- Base: Lumilayer Primer mixed with equal parts Perfecting Last Foundation
- Setting Powder: If you have normal to dry skin, skip powder. If you have oilier skin, just use a tiny bit of Locking Pressed Powder around the T-zone where needed.
- Peach Blush: Festival Mineral Blusher in 109 Fall In Love (I mixed both shades for a soft warm glow)
- Brows: VDL Festival Brow Pencil in Gray Brown (this slant-cut automatic pencil is idiot-proof for drawing natural-looking strokes and needs no shaving)
- Eye Primer: VDL Festival Eye Primer (if you have oily lids, a thin layer of this helps lock things in place; if you don’t, the black pencil is enough)
- Black Pencil: Eye Bomb Mega Smoky Pencil
- Silver/Grey Eyeshadow Duo: Festival Mineral Eyes in 901 NY. 34TH STREET
- Mascara: Eye Bomb mascara
- Peachy lipstick: Festival Lipstick in 608 Chris (this gorgeous lipstick goes on slightly more pink against the skin than it might appear in the tube.)

Hot Pink and Plum Brown Stacked Eyeliner Tutorial (Super Quick!)
If you already wear eyeliner on a daily basis, this is a super quick way to step up your game and add a streak of color but still keep things wearable for work or school.
It’s sort of the reverse of what I did in a previous stacked liner tutorial here, and it is probably easier to get more precision and intensity.
You will only need:
- A dark pencil liner of your choice. This can be brown, black, navy, plum, etc. I used a plum from Clinique called Intense Aubergine.
- A bright colored liquid liner of your choice; it can be matte, metallic, or glitter. Anything! I’m using a hot coral pink from Maybelline’s Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner line, called “Hot Pink”.
There are only 3 steps, and they’re all above. No lengthy text! Any colored liner you pop on over the dark color will add some vavavoom without looking over the top. (And the dark pencil liner acts as a “guiding line” for the liquid.)
One tip: Before applying the liquid liner, make sure you take off any excess on the back of your hand. You can build up the color if there’s not enough. It’s much harder to control the brush if you have too much product on it at the start.
