Hi! I want to write a short story involving social issues, but I have no idea how to go about making a short story on a social issue without making it seem too hammy or preachy. I have my characters, I have my setting, but no plot nor way to proceed. Please help! Thank you.

Choose a topic and research it as much as you can. Write without bias as much as you can. Find people who know a lot about the issue you’re writing about to look over what you’ve written. They can help pick out preachy parts or anything that may come off as offensive.
